That was hard work!

But I did it. The 6km was actually 6.5, and I did it in 35.55, keeping up an average pace of around 5.30/km, which is pretty fast for me. I was second female across the line, too!

Just the motivational pick-me-up I needed. I am determined to lose 1kg this week, which will bring me to 10kg lost in total :)

Struggling

I'm hitting a bit of a wall at the moment. Life seems to be getting in the way - I've spent most of the week visualising tile colour schemes and debating the merits of various cooktops and toilet suites, because we had pre-start for our house renovation today. My deadline for work is fast approaching again, and I'm job-hunting for something that will bring in a bit more money. Plus I'm very fatigued, particularly in the afternoon, so I saw a doctor and had some blood tests on Wednesday to see if anything obvious shows up.

I'm hoping a good run tomorrow morning, and the 6km fun run I'm signed up for on Sunday, will get me back into the groove.

Today was a good exercise in JFDI

My period started yesterday. I think most people reading this are probably women, so we all know how that feels.

This morning I woke up and I did not want to run. I was sore from basketball yesterday. I was tired. But I'd promised myself a new personal best today, I was going to run 12 kilometres. So I just put on those shoes and got out the door. The first 2km was awful - not sure whether my brain or my body was protesting more. However, I pushed through, and I made it! 12.63km in fact, as my GPS was playing up on RunKeeper and I had to estimate and then adjust the mapping when I got home.

I followed that with taking three kids to the pool for a birthday party, and then riding my bike over to a friend's place to deliver her some food (she just had her sixth baby). OK, so I succumbed to some party food for lunch, but in my defence the family all work with food and it was SO yummy. I had two small squares of pizza, and a petit-four-sized vanilla slice. And a skim-milk coffee. It's a confession, but I don't feel bad about it ;)

Next Sunday I have a 6km fun run. 10km in April, 14km in May, and my big goal, 21.1km (half-marathon) in August.

Smashed it this morning

Yay! This morning I went to a group training session in Kings Park with a whole lot of other Perth 12WBT participants. It was fun - in a painful way - and combined with the 3.5km uphill run there, the 3.5km run to the shops and 1.5km walk home, I burned 1414 calories in just under 3 hours.

I am glad tomorrow is my core/stretch day, though, because I am very sore. My bottom hurts from falling over rollerskating, I did something to a muscle in my hand at boxing, I have a big bruise on one knee from basketball and well, I'm just sore all over from this morning!

I am proud of all the new things I've been trying, which was one of my goals. Since starting the 12WBT, I've done the following for the first time:

1. Body Combat class
2. Body Balance class
3. Body Pump class
4. boxing class
5. a game of basketball
6. group training session

I've also run 10km twice, and done 6 sets of Jacob's Ladder. I've done both those things before, but not since I was 16.

Hitting it hard

I was disappointed with myself last week. So this week I am hitting it HARD. Thursday I did a 10km run plus 3km of walking (the walking wasn't really a choice, had to go shopping). Friday I joined my kids rollerskating instead of sitting on the sidelines - I felt kind of silly but burned 600 calories over the two hours!

This morning I did a boxing class for the first time ever. It was pretty fun ... but I did forget my heart rate monitor. The woman who encouraged me to come along said she burned over 600 calories though, so I'm going to assume I did at least 500, plus the walk to and from the class. Then this afternoon a friend roped me into playing basketball with her social team. I am a netballer, and even then my skills are rusty. I think I gave it a good go, even if I did keep stopping when I got the ball, heh. I couldn't wear my HRM though - no watches allowed - so I don't know how many I burned there either!

Tomorrow I will run to Kings Park (about 3.5km uphill), do a group training session with the 12WBT Perth crew, and then either run, walk or crawl home depending on how I feel. Hoping to hit the 1000 calorie mark!

My food hasn't been perfect, but it's been okay. I hope the scales reflect the extra work!

Weigh-in Wednesday

No change this week.

I am disappointed but not surprised. I have fallen off the wagon a little, but you know what, I'm going to get back on. I have been doing my exercise, but eating badly.

Last week was very stressful and I didn't handle it as well as I should have. So in a way, no change is good because at least I didn't go backwards!

What's done is done; time to move on.

This week's red flag: hen's night on Saturday. I will have one or two drinks (vodka lime & soda) and be very careful with my food that day. I am going to a group training session on Sunday morning so I will need to get home at a decent time and not be drunk!

Weigh-in Wednesday

500g down this week. Not much, but it's something, and I had a bigger loss last week. I can pinpoint a few areas where I went wrong, but as long as the scales keep going down and I feel good, I'm happy. That's 7.3kg lost since starting pre-season, and I've already had to pack away a pair of shorts and a skirt that are just too big. I bought a pair of shorts and a dress on clearance in Target, size 12 and they fit!

Tonight is deadline night. Well, technically my deadline is noon tomorrow, but that's Sydney time, which is 9am here and right when I'll be at school dropping off the kids. So I usually submit last thing at night. And I eat while I work! Not tonight ...
